GET INVOLVED

Lambeth Made is helping young people’s views affect the services they need. Here are some ways to get involved.

Lambeth Youth Council

Lambeth Youth Council is a group of young people who care about making positive changes to their community. They volunteer their time to help sure the council’s services work for everyone in Lambeth. They are the youth voice in local democracy.

If you’re 11 to 19 (up to 25 if you have a special need or disability) and you live, learn or work in Lambeth, join them. Give your time, make a difference and have some fun!

You don’t have to go to meetings to be involved. Get in touch and find out ways young can make a difference. Read the Youth Council blog and find out what’s going on.

SEN/D Youth Forum

All children and young people must have a say about the services they need and the place where they live. It’s the law.

Lambeth wants to hear the voices of children and young people with SEN/D. So, come and help develop Lambeth’s first SEN/D Youth Forum

Join and help make sure:

  • Young people with SEN/D get a chance to make changes to Lambeth and their community
  • The services on offer are the right ones and meet your needs
  • The voice young people with SEN/D are heard by all youth forums

VOS meets every month. You’ll meet other young people in care, work on projects that help young people and influence the way Lambeth works with children and young people in care. The skills you’ll learn will benefit you as well.

At the moment, all meetings are held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Lambeth Youth Offending Service Youth Offer

Lambeth YOS Community Panel Members are volunteers, aged 18 or over, who want to help young people, stop committing crimes and improve their life chances.

The panel is a diverse group of people, who know Lambeth well, who give up two hours a week for a year. They are trained to support young people aged who have pleaded guilty to an offence in court.

They work with them on a tailor-made contract that gets the young person to repair the harm they caused and work out how to stay out of trouble in the future. The YOS supervises the contract. At the moment, all panel meetings are held online due to COVID-19 restrictions.

To find out more email Linda Reid, Referral Order Coordinator, or call 020 7926 4461.

THE ELEVATORS

The Elevators are twelve people aged 18 to 30 who guide ELEVATE. They are helping open up the creative and culture sector for all the young people in Lambeth. If you’re a young creative and you want to join the Elevators or get involved in ELEVATE activities, email Vicky Long, Cultural Development Manager.

Housing experts by experience

Lambeth Housing wants young people who are care leavers or who have lived in supported or semi-independent accommodation to join their experts by experience panel and become young commissioners.

The panel will help reshape Lambeth’s supported housing offer. They will meet once a month to give guidance and influence decisions that will make sure the new pathway is designed with young people at the heart. The young commissioners work with the commissioning team, gain experience of their work and shape services for young people.
