I am delighted to be able to welcome you all the new Lambeth Made website, packed to the rafters with information, advice and opportunities to get involved with our campaign to ensure Lambeth is one of the best places in the world for children and young people to grow up.
The thinking behind Lambeth Made is simple. We want to create a genuinely shared commitment to make Lambeth one of the best places in the world for our children and young people to grow up. Lambeth Made acts as a focal point for partnership forming and planning, ideas and opportunities generation, social-capital creation and fundamentally enablement: enabling our children and young people to access opportunities to improve their outcomes, while also enabling our community, businesses and local people to involve themselves in this ultimate aim.
We have been working on Lambeth Made since early 2018, and in our first year we have seen a dramatic increase in activity and involvement from a huge array of people, organisations and stakeholders across our borough. We know that in our first year, our activities have impacted 2,750 children and young people. We know that more than 450 professional colleagues from Social Care, Education, Health and other partners have been trained up and been a part of workshops which get people thinking in the Lambeth Made way. We know that over 100 statutory and community organisations, businesses and recruiters have been involved in Lambeth Made projects and events. This is just the very, very start of what we can do together.
We have huge aspirations for Lambeth Made, and have some very exciting plans in the pipeline, working to bring together different parts of our borough and its resources, with local communities. As colleagues (including myself!) within the Lambeth Made team have unique roles, working within statutory and community organisations, this leaves us really well placed to tap into and help cultivate the genuine social capital we know Lambeth is full to the brim of!
We really would love to hear from you: be that if you’ve got any ideas on how you can support Lambeth Made; if you’ve got any feedback on the website or our programme thus far; or of course if you’ve got ideas you want to talk over with us. Please don’t hesitate to drop us an email at hello@lambethmade.com, and we’ll be delighted to chat to you! You will also find plenty of information around turning your ideas into reality on the PROJECT TOOLKIT pages too, so do check those out.
All that’s left for me to say is: “please get involved!” No idea is too little; no vision too big. By working together across our borough we really can ensure Lambeth is the best place for children and young people to grow up.
Thanks and welcome once more.
